Reminders:
Dress code is now in effect and is being enforced. Jeans, cutoffs, athletic t-shirts, short shorts, undershirts, halter tops, tank tops, strapless tops, tank tops and any denim are not acceptable and are prohibited.  You will be asked to change into proper golf attire if you are wearing any of the above. Please empty trash from carts, park carts in designated space & return cart key to clubhouse when finished. Stay behind white lines painted in front of greens.  Do not drive behind greens. All riders in cart must pay $20 cart fee – even if they are not playing. Weekends and holidays are busy times for us in the summer, please remember to call in and make a tee time.

***Also effective July 1, 2010 there is a 1% increase in the state sales tax.  Total sales tax will be 8.8%.  Those of you that are billed monthly will see a slight increase because of this.***

Couples Night:  Friday July 16^th @ 5:30 pm – 4 person scramble blind draw again with dinner and special cocktails.  Please sign up at the clubhouse or e-mail lnelson@glazers.com or call Doug Bowes if you need any other information. Cost is $10 for cart fee per person whether you are a member or not.  Fee for the game is $10 per couple, as we might have some more games and pay out a little more. Don’t miss this the last one was fun!!

Ladies Play Day:  Saturday – July 24^th – 9:00 am start time. $10 per person for cart/green fee and $5 for the games.  Please, call the clubhouse to sign up or mail me to let me know you will be able to attend.

Superintendent’s News:
As we head into the summer months of July and August, the maintenance crew and I will be continuing to improve the course by working on the irrigation system, edging #3, #6, and #11 fairway bunkers, and possibly starting a few sod projects on the fairways.  We will also be applying a fertilizer application on the fairways to help fill in some of the weaker areas. 

Each day we are consistently trying to improve the course in one way or another.  We have come a long way since my first days on the job in March.  For those of you who were out in the spring or haven’t been out to play lately, the course has changed dramatically over the last month.  There is no longer any poa annua and very few weeds in the fairways from all of the heat that we have had over the past month.

On Monday July 5^th, the golf course will be open at 8:00 a.m. for play.  Please call in for tee times on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Also during July, we will be hosting the Big Brother’s/Big Sister’s Tournament on the 19^th and the Louisburg Football Tournament on the 26^th.

I am starting to book any special events for 2011.  This includes Monday Outings, use of the pavilion and any group that would like to come out and play golf.  If you know of anyone that is involved in booking a special event, I would like to talk to them about having their event at Metcalf Ridge.  I can be reached at the clubhouse @837-5476, or calling the maintenance facility @ 837-4354.
